Trevor Bauer, the former Cy Young Award winner, faced another hurdle on his way back to Major League Baseball on Wednesday. Bauer, 35, was involved in a car crash in Arizona while driving his black McLaren. Despite the severity of the collision, he walked away without injuries.

According to TMZ, Bauer was traveling at the posted speed limit of 45 mph and was not responsible for the accident. Emergency responders confirmed that no one involved in the crash required hospitalization.

Bauer’s Past Challenges

Bauer’s current situation is reminiscent of a previous incident involving a McLaren. In 2019, a semi-truck tire flew off a highway and damaged his parked McLaren 650S at a dealership lot. Such challenges have been part of Bauer’s journey both on and off the field.

Once celebrated for winning a Cy Young Award and securing a lucrative contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bauer’s career faced turmoil in 2021. Allegations of sexual assault by accuser Lindsey Hill led to significant media attention. Although Bauer maintained his innocence and no criminal charges were filed, MLB gave him a lengthy suspension of 324 games, later reduced to 194 games.

Current Career and Recent Efforts

Despite never facing criminal charges, Bauer has been largely excluded from Major League Baseball. He currently plays for the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League, boasting a 4-1 record and a 2.43 ERA. Ironically, his visit to Arizona was for rehabbing back spasms.

Bauer has publicly advocated for a return to the MLB, offering to play for the league minimum salary. He remains determined to revive his Major League career after surviving the controversies that disrupted it.
