SpaceX’s Ambitious Mars Colony Goal Tied to Musk’s Compensation

2 weeks ago 0

Elon Musk stands to gain significantly if SpaceX successfully establishes a city on Mars. However, some experts remain skeptical about the feasibility of this goal. An expert commented, “I have a hard time taking it seriously.”

In 2021, NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover captured an image of Santa Cruz, a hill approximately 1.5 miles from the rover, using its dual-camera Mastcam-Z imager. This image was taken as part of ongoing exploration activities on Mars.

On May 25, 2026, at 12:00 PM EDT, news surfaced that SpaceX’s latest investor prospectus detailed a unique clause in the compensation package for CEO Elon Musk. To earn performance-based shares, SpaceX must establish a permanent human colony on Mars composed of at least 1 million people.
