Blaming Trump for Knicks’ Loss Sparks Humor and Debate

1 week ago 0

Accusing President Donald Trump of causing the New York Knicks’ NBA Finals loss has stirred mixed reactions. After the Knicks lost 115-111 to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3, Cardi B implied Trump’s presence brought negative vibes to Madison Square Garden. Trump was the first sitting U.S. president to attend an NBA Finals game, where the Spurs ended the Knicks’ 13-game playoff streak, narrowing New York’s series lead to 2-1.

Cardi B shared her thoughts on Instagram Live, responding to a fan’s question about Trump’s impact. ‘It probably was. But it is what it is,’ she stated. Having performed at halftime, she sensed an unusual mood at the arena, likening it to a school principal visiting unexpectedly, where everyone had to behave.

Heightened security measures due to Trump’s visit, including road closures and Secret Service presence, contributed to the atmosphere. Cardi B acknowledged these precautions, despite observing the security details firsthand. Nonetheless, placing responsibility on Trump for the Knicks’ struggle in shooting during the fourth quarter seems excessive. The team managed only 2-for-12 from three-point range, while Victor Wembanyama scored 32 points to secure the Spurs’ victory.

Prior to the game, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, a Knicks fan, humorously vowed to blame Trump if New York lost. This prompted Trump to question Smith’s political ambitions post-game, doubting his capability to run for president.

Amid the lighthearted accusations, Knicks fans await Game 4 at Madison Square Garden. If they lose again, they might jokingly point fingers at Trump once more.
