Giorgio Armani’s Enduring Legacy Features in Milan Fashion Show

An Exclusive Event in Milan

Giorgio Armani’s timeless influence was showcased at a runway event held at his historic headquarters in central Milan. Following the fashion show, a casual dinner took place in the garden attended by celebrities and business associates.

The Giorgio Armani Foundation is seeking a buyer for a 15% stake in Armani’s fashion group, in line with the late designer’s will. Every runway event now serves to show that Armani’s creative vision not only persists but continues to develop.

Real Clothes for Real People

The menswear collection for next summer was merged with womenswear cruise looks, embodying Armani’s signature relaxed style. This was evident in both the garments’ silhouettes and the models’ easygoing gestures.

“We tried to continue the message that he wanted to convey,’’ said Silvana Armani, Armani’s niece and head of womenswear design.

Models interacted with photographers, one fidgeting with a ring, another elegantly draping a jacket over his shoulder. Changes were subtle, with jackets a few inches longer and trousers slightly slimmer to achieve a balanced look. Observers noted the clothing resembled attire for real outings, not merely runway pieces.

Mediterranean Influence

Safari jackets and longer blazers were effortlessly layered with shawl-collar vests or matched with shirts and ties. The collection featured sun-bleached greens, cobalt blues, and sandy neutrals reminiscent of the Mediterranean. Fabrics like linen, cotton, and textured knits enriched the relaxed summer vibe.

Silvana Armani’s womenswear cruise designs seamlessly fit into the lineup, with jackets, coats, and dresses lightly draping over the figure.

“I think he would have applauded,” remarked Leo Dell’Orco, menswear designer.

Celebrity Attendance

Among first-row attendees were actors Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Strong, and Lucy Boynton, along with singer Conan Gray. After the event, guests including filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino and Marco Bizzarri, former Gucci CEO and Armani board member, transitioned to the adjacent garden for a casual cocktail dinner.

Future Directions

Armani’s will directs his successors to sell a 15% company stake—comprising Emporio Armani, Armani/Casa, and Armani Hotels—within 18 months post his death last September. Silvana Armani and Dell’Orco are now leading the creative legacy.

Dell’Orco, also the foundation’s chairman and holder of 40% of voting rights in the fashion group, dismissed rumors about Dario Vitale joining Emporio Armani, asserting they were untrue.
