Uncertain Outcomes in California’s Primary Election

20 hours ago 0

In California, the results of key primary elections remain uncertain as ballots continue to be counted. The primary determines candidates for governor and Los Angeles mayor, with the top two vote-getters advancing to the November general election, regardless of party affiliation.

As of now, Steve Hilton, a Republican and former Fox News host, leads in the governor’s race with about 27% of the counted votes. However, with millions of ballots still uncounted, the race remains competitive. Democrat Xavier Becerra, a former Biden administration cabinet member, is close behind with approximately 26% of the votes counted.

Another contender in the governor’s race is Tom Steyer, a billionaire Democrat who presents himself as a progressive choice. As the tally continues, he could still emerge as a strong candidate.

For the Los Angeles mayoral race, Spencer Pratt, another Republican, has shown strong early votes. The final candidates to challenge incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in the November elections will become clearer as more ballots are processed.
