You can now listen to Fox News articles! A Coast Guard helicopter crashed during a routine training flight in southeast Alaska, injuring four crew members, officials reported.
Location and Timing of Crash
The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter went down outside Sitka, Alaska. The crash occurred in a sparsely populated area near Harbor Mountain. The Coast Guard made the announcement in a press release.
Watch standers at the Arctic District command center became aware of the crash shortly after 10 a.m.
Rescue and Medical Response
Rescue crews from Sitka Fire and Rescue reached the scene around 11 a.m. They transported all four injured crew members to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center for treatment. Thankfully, no fatalities were associated with the crash.
“We are incredibly relieved our crew members survived with only minor injuries,” Rear Adm. Bob Little, commander of the Coast Guard’s Arctic District, said.
All injured crew members received treatment at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center.
Investigation and Other Incidents
The cause of the crash remains unknown, and the incident is under investigation.
This Coast Guard crash follows several other aircraft accidents in recent times. A business jet crashed on a Laredo, Texas highway, leading to the death of one person.
Additionally, a B-52 crashed on June 15 during a test flight at Edwards Air Force Base, California, killing eight people. On the previous day, a skydiving plane crash in Missouri resulted in 12 deaths.
