Florida Police Department Launches Viral Recruitment Campaign

1 hour ago 0

A police department in Florida has gained significant attention through a viral social media campaign designed to enhance their recruitment efforts and strengthen the relationship between officers and the community. The Ocala Police Department’s online initiative has garnered millions of views by highlighting the human side of law enforcement.

During a segment on ‘Fox & Friends Weekend,’ Officer Sean Price discussed the campaign’s success in presenting a positive image of the police department, which has been vital since the challenges faced in 2020. He emphasized the importance of showcasing personalities behind the badge, moving beyond the serious aspects of police work.

“These videos certainly humanize the badge, the uniform.”

To further connect with the audience, the department recently released a video in their ‘We Do’ campaign, featuring familiar dating scenarios while officers perform their duties. Accompanied by Usher’s ‘Daddy’s Home,’ the video includes phrases such as ‘Does he open your door?’ with clips of an officer assisting someone into a patrol car, and ‘Does he listen to you?’ showing an officer taking a statement. The phrase ‘Does he answer your call?’ features an officer responding to an emergency—all answered with ‘We do.’

The video has humorously highlighted the services officers provide to keep the community safe and has reached over 19 million views on Facebook. Corporal Alexandria Blackman noted the positive reactions, describing it as an opportunity for the community to see a lighter side of the officers beyond their serious roles.

Officer Price expressed optimism that this positive engagement could lead to an increase in applications to join the police force. He noted the significant attention the campaign has received on social media, which he hopes will inspire more people to consider a career in law enforcement.

Officer Clayton Brown offered advice to those contemplating joining the force. He highlighted the importance of understanding ‘your why’ for entering the job, stressing the need to approach the role with a unique perspective and the desire to help the community, particularly during challenging times. Brown encouraged capable individuals with a passion for community service to join the department.
