President Trump announced that Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei approved the text of a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and commence diplomatic talks regarding Iran’s nuclear agenda. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump confirmed the Supreme Leader’s agreement, describing the deal as a ‘strong’ memorandum of understanding, albeit ‘conceptual.’

The signing ceremony is anticipated in Europe over the weekend, with Vice President Vance likely to represent the United States. Trump stated that Iran committed to not developing nuclear weapons.

Earlier on Thursday, Trump threatened to launch additional military strikes in Iran, including taking over Kharg Island. However, he later called off the strikes, citing successful progress in negotiations to end a conflict exceeding 100 days.

The Trump administration seeks to secure an agreement allowing oil and commercial vessels to navigate safely through the Strait of Hormuz, while reopening discussions on Iran’s nuclear program.

In related news, the Senate Armed Services Committee rejected a proposal to expand fertility services for military families. President Trump criticized Senator Mitch McConnell, describing him as ‘angry’ and expressed hope that Republicans would support a Congressional funding bill for the Iran conflict despite some opposition.

Trump oscillated between threats of new hostilities with Iran and celebrating diplomatic progress. He initially proposed taking over Iran’s Kharg Island but later canceled military actions due to advanced discussions with Iranian leadership.
