1 week ago 0

After an 11-year hiatus, legendary rock band Rush returned to live performance on June 7 in Los Angeles. The tour, known as ‘Fifty Something,’ marks their first since August 2015. Band members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson reunite on stage for the first time since the passing of their iconic drummer, Neil Peart, in 2020. Drummer Anika Nilles joins the lineup, stepping in for Peart.

Fans in attendance of the Los Angeles show were in for a treat as Rush opened their performance with ‘Xanadu.’ This track, from their 1977 album ‘A Farewell To Kings,’ has never before opened a tour, adding a unique flair to the concert.

The setlist included favorites like ‘Limelight,’ ‘Freewill,’ and ‘The Spirit of the Radio.’ They performed two sets, with the second featuring tracks from the 1976 album ‘2112,’ such as ‘Overture’ and ‘Grand Finale.’ The culmination of the night came as characters from the TV show South Park introduced the final song, ‘Tom Sawyer.’

Rush paid homage to Neil Peart during the event. A video montage celebrated the drummer’s career, featuring his thoughts on starting and enjoying his drumming journey. Additionally, the band dedicated ‘Bravado’ from ‘Roll the Bones’ to Peart, creating a heartfelt moment for all in attendance.
