Taylor Sheridan Warns of Threat to Rule of Law

Challenges Faced by President Trump

Taylor Sheridan, the creator of “Yellowstone,” expressed concerns about the ongoing refusal by Democrats to accept President Donald Trump’s legitimacy. This opposition, Sheridan warned, is detrimental to the rule of law in America.

During both terms of Trump’s presidency, he faced resistance from various influential figures and institutions. This included sanctuary cities rejecting collaboration with federal agents and officials opposing his role as commander-in-chief. Grassroots opinions have also questioned his legitimacy as an elected president.

Post-COVID, America’s institutions have faced a legitimacy crisis. Sheridan, speaking to Joe Rogan, remarked on society’s lingering struggles—not directly from the disease, but from diminished trust in entities like government, media, and pharmaceutical companies. Sheridan noted how these were manipulated to gain power for political entities.

“So our government, and it’s so dangerous what we’re seeing,” Sheridan lamented.

Implications of Undermining the Administration

Sheridan emphasized that undermining a sitting president, irrespective of personal opinions, is harmful to America’s legal system. Drawing parallels with the military strategy of “winning hearts and minds,” he noted its mixed success, effective in places like Japan but less so elsewhere.

He suggested the current conflict is internal. Sheridan warned that defiance of the federal government due to personal dislike of Trump could normalize ignoring the rule of law.

“You can’t stand this man. You think he’s a terrible president, and you’re not going to follow his laws. But that’s the new normal now,’” Sheridan noted as a concern.

If this precedent endures, the next president, regardless of popularity, could face similar defiance. Sheridan cautioned about eroding the rule of law, asking what outcomes might follow.

Concerns About Militarized Police

Joe Rogan agreed illegal immigration needs addressing but criticized the use of militarized police. Such measures, he argued, could set a precedent exploited by future governments.

Mass deportations may seem necessary due to the rapid influx of illegal immigrants. Yet, Rogan highlighted the potential misuse of this precedent later. He described it as a “weird precedent” applicable in unforeseen ways.

“It’s slippery. It is slippery,” Rogan stated, cautioning politicians against short-sighted strategies.

Sheridan echoed these sentiments. He critiqued political disservice by elected officials focused narrowly on upcoming elections.

Cultural Fallout of COVID-19

Sheridan mentioned ongoing cultural repercussions from COVID-19. Americans remain skeptical of once-revered institutions, reflecting broader concerns about trust and governance.
